A Bit of Sparkle

In the latest edition of Nashville Lifestyles magazine, we featured the talented and entertaining Hugh Howser of H3 Events in his lovely West End home. I loved the ambiance, the classic furniture/accents and the 'Hughlarious' conversation.

But, what I liked most was creating a cocktail for the evening. We elected to make something a bit different.... and to use rum rather than the staple vodka served at most parties. It was a huge hit, and a recipe I've been using since. It's definitely one to consider for all of your gatherings this winter. Lovely presentation, simple and delicious! The photos and the idea to sugar coat the rosemary sprigs are all from Styling My Everyday's Katie Jacobs. Check out this site for more.

SPARKLING RUM PUNCH

1 cup dark rum
2/3 cup Triple Sec
2 bottles of Prosecco
Fresh rosemary and orange slices for garnish (optional)

Mix first two ingredients in a pitcher. Stir well and refrigerate for at least two hours. Remove and top with chilled sparkling wine. Serve in long stemmed glasses. For an added touch, roll slightly damp rosemary lightly in sugar and place in the glass along with a thin orange slice prior to serving. If you have a big crowd: triple the recipe, eliminate the garnish and serve the mixture over ice in whatever glasses you have on hand.

What cocktail are you making this week? Do share.. and check out StylingMyEveryDay.com for an entire guide for the holiday!
