Nashville Chef makes waves in Southern CA

There are friends you make, and friends you keep. Thankfully, when the dynamic Wilson duo came into Nashville a few years ago, I got the opportunity to really get to know their dreams, their hearts and their talents. I feel so lucky to have met them. What I appreciate even more is that they are now partners with other equally life-changing friends (for me) that my husband has treasured for years, Charles and Ali Banks. Yes, it's sad that Emily and Robbie Wilson are no longer in Nashville-- but I'm elated about where they are now and even more excited about what they have created.

Emily and Robbie Wilson

To recreate and revamp a historic place like Mattei's Tavern in Los Olivos, CA. was no easy feat, but in  a matter of months, they not only got it up and running, but have created a special dining destination for all of Southern California that is gaining significant press from publications like the LA Times

The grounds around Mattei's
After visiting for just a bit, it was evident that Robbie's talents were making an impression on discriminating diners and wine enthusiasts alike. In fact, the word 'wow' was heard from every table...especially the three that faced the action of the open kitchen at Mattei's. The entire space is magical. Historic rooms, fantastic bar and a modern kitchen are all part of the mix. And the food is beyond compare. Every dish is delicious, and filled with love and passion.

Seafood named 'greatest hits' is served on a vintage turntable.
This isn't just a destination for day travelers from Los Angeles or Santa Barbara, but a place that those of us in the Southeast can plan vacations around. Tasting rooms from top rated wineries are within walking distance.  To add to the appeal, the area offers possibly the most lovely weather imaginable year round.

I can't share too much here... as a full feature on the area and menu is slated for the November edition of Nashville Lifestyles Magazine (be sure to get a copy), but wanted to give you a head's up on this incredible spot and the equally amazing people behind it!
